This error occurs in one of the OpenGL texture conversion routines and is probably caused by one of the textures being too large for the conversion buffer. Different engines have different capacities and some don't even check for buffer overrun and might crash.

Software engines don't use OpenGL so they don't have this problem.

Or maybe you can find and shrink the offending texture. Is it happening only when playing a special mod (-game xxx) or all the time? In the former case, which one and where can it be d/l from?

why are you running joequake thru the cmd.exe command?!

More than likely he is using something like joequake.bat (a batch file); Yellow No. 5 does that.

no i dont use a command line for joequake... just for fuhquake!

The error says you're trying to load an 8bpp image which is bigger than 640x480 so it can't be loaded (that's the limit for 8bpp images). You should get the same error with fuhquake either or you doesn't exactly use the same options, command line etc.

Your graphics card is set to a default FPS of 60 (so is mine). FuhQuake and EZQuake override that via a command line parameter (you are using the eQuake launcher, right?)

Option #1: You could go into display adapter settings in the control panel and change it. I went in the control panel and increased it to 85 last night and got a constant 85 fps.

Option #2: You could ask Jozsef to add the FuhQuake feature to set the vertical refresh rate -vid_displayfrequency 85 and see what he says.

That's the same as me ....

Start --> Control Panel --> Display --> Settings ---> Click Advanced ---> Click GEForce tab ---> select refresh rate overrrides and then I made 640 x 480 resolution 85 Hz. (I use that for JoeQuake).

Option #1 is a pain in the butt for most people and not convenient, but if you are computer savvy it's not to hard.

lol baker i´m not a newbie... :p i will ask to jozef if he can add this ficture to joequake and to justin for tremor let´s see what happed!

+set vid_displayfrequency 85

if i dont put this command in fuhquake i have same problem as with joequake and tremor...

trinca,
Option 1:
turn off vsync.
and use cl_maxfps ### to what u want. IE 85

Option 2:
goto display properties, advance, monitor tab
set the HZ to a higher rate. This would effect the rate at the current resolution. If you dont play quake at the same resolution your desktop is set to, then set yourdesktop res to that and then adjust the rate. (ugh)
Some gfx cards have a tab that let u specify refresh rates for each resolution. Called refresh override. This is the best route to go, if your card supports it.

But if u cant get opt 2 working then just use option 1. Though with vsync off you get screen tearing.

added command line parameter to glQrack "-refreshrate" that will set the Hz like fuh's vid_displayfrequency...

Will update website for downloads....soon.
