Take the above code and open quake\joequake\config.cfg and put it in there at the very end.
You can then use the + and - keys to switch between forward and reverse demo viewing.
Furthermore, if you press Esc and go to the Menu, select DEMO
and then you can browse demos and folders and select the demo you want to play.
If you don't have any demos on your computer, you can get some at ftp://runequake.com/quake/demos/ .
[Joe, being a champion map speedrunner type certainly has great demos, I'll find links for some of those and provide links to some]
