If the author of ProQuake were ever to do more development to the engine, a list of reasonable improvements would be: 1) A time command as I can't exit GL ProQuake, which I run in full-screen mode, and return without the graphics being messed up. Would be nice to be able to check the localtime by typing "TIME" or something. 2) Custom map download a la QuakeWorld 3) An "*" or something on SHOWSCORES next to players names using ProQuake. 3a --> Maybe a mixed-cheatfree mode with players using that mode with an indicator next to their name. 4) Support for the numeric keypad keys. 5) Whatever fix of the style Yugo2Heck did to the server side code so in server mode the "Cannot Connect to Server" problem is bypassed like implemented at quake.ihoc.net and xoc.ihoc.net 6) Somehow make the client so it get "news updates" or informational bulletins from http://www.planetquake.com/proquake or maybe RuneQuake.com, since this site is one of the longest lived ones. I'm just talking about maybe some text popping up retrieved from a text file sitting on a specific location on a web site. 7) Maybe an "installer" on installation that offers to get additional files (maps, popular mod downloads.) 8 ) The ability to "lock" your config.cfg (set as READ-ONLY) so it can't be overwritten. [Most players use quake.exe or winquake.exe and that client has really issues to connecting to servers and whatever change was implemented at quake.ihoc.net somehow bypasses this problem merely by a change on the server side. More information is in another thread on this topic.] I know the last release was in 2002. Who knows if there will ever be another release, but you never know. |

Currently screenshots are from Quake00.tga to Quake99.tga (limit 100) Why not Quake000.tga to Quake999.tga (limit 1000) |

If given carte blanche, why stick with the TARGA format when JPEG offers superior compression with negligible loss of quality? toyo |

Or PNG like JoeQuake, which is not lossy compression [Toyo, I didn't mention such a thing because it seemed like too much work, but yeah, TGA is a quite inefficient file format, that's for sure] |

Make qconsole.log continue between sessions instead of erasing everything when you start ProQuake next. Make demos STOP (recording) at the end of a map or game, or is this impossible somehow. Make some sort of in-board server status checker. JoeQuake Pro has this? |

Eliminate the pre-cache texture error that always seems to happen when DM4 or DM3 is the next map. My GL ProQuake gets this fatal error everytime. |

Only 2 things on my proquake wishlist: I know the point of proquake isn't improving visuals, but the 10fps models are just really stupid. It would be really nice to see that fixed. And it would be nice if my video didn't freak every 5th or so time I alt-tabbed out of and back into quake: |

That looks like an issue with your video driver. I would try updating it to the latest version from the manufacturer's web site. On the other hand, it actually looks pretty cool... you might consider that to be a feature, lol. Trippy mode. |

apparenlty you need an ati video card. hydro gets the same effect, and he has an ati card too. they must have flakey drivers. |

Native and DEFAULT Zipped Demo support. Like JoeQuake. And some way to file associate in Windows so someone can just upload the zipped demo (.dzp? .dzip?) so someone could click on it and view it with the browser launching it in a window. |

use the Omega Driver set, I'm on a ATi Radeon 9200 and I *NEVER* get that problem when I alt-tab out of quake, back into my Windows XP UI. On the JPEG note, adding JPEG support would cost $ to legally use that format,as it is owned by someone like Compuserv's Graphic Interchangable Format. (to my knoweldge anyway) PNG is the way to go,as it is a open source I think?OR releasd under GPL?not sure,I could be wrong there as well. I wish JoeQuake could/would support ProQuake Cheat-Free,as it's pretty. |
