Everyone wants the assurance of a fair game, or as close to an assurance as is possible.

Ok, I'll bite. Who says no one is cheating?

This "anti-cheat" fix cannot be worked around. It reduces the amount of information sent by the server to the clients. Normally the server is a bit lazy and sends more entity position data than are absolutely necessary for the client to render the scene. "Cheating" clients can use the extra data to see around some corners or through some walls. This is a very limited form of "cheat" that only hardcore DM players seem to care about. The patch makes the server do some extra work to figure out the minimum entity position data necessary for the client to render correctly.

billy joel said you should never argue with a crazy man.
in fact, how do we know that IHH really said that at all? someone could have hacked his forum account and is making illicit posts. perhaps all these posts are really from bots, and this whole forum is an advanced exercise in artificial intelligence. who is to say it isn't? in fact, i dont even know that this forum or the internet even exist; maybe someone is hacking my monitor to send all these crazy images and pieces of information to my eyes

I can't believe wall-hack patch is still being mentioned nowadays - like who would need to even think of 'cheating'? By this time everyone should be whizzing thru the game. Outside of [Rune] Quake, every other fps game I played, almost all are pro's of some sort (ex. Quake Live). This place must be a real time-capsule  and I mean that in a positive way

I am also seeing a lot of potential players here - who should all get back to Quakin' maybe? Hehe. I had made a huge effort and life-change to get to playing this thing (wanting on a regular basis) LOL  I been trying to funnel new players here thru some of my [Quake] YouTube videos. In fact, that is how I been found by QKeeperQ and Killa and been 'dragged' here lmao

Having said all this - a very Merry Xmas, Happy New Year and Holidays to all, with much prosperity and health and may I say - much healthy Quaking into the new year and beyond  Viva la Quake! :P
