Since you've been an admin for a long time I was wondering if I could find out what kind of admin action you would take in a certain kind of situation. You also do not have to answer this if you wish, but it would help us out alot:

The situation is this, names changed, a player named Dr. Jeckle feels that a recent change you made to your server is dishonest change. The player makes claims that you are cheating for making this change and he does so publically at the server and posting on another admin's board. Dr. Jeckle doesn't just make one public claim that you are cheating (because of the change you made), but makes the claim many times and continually over a period of time.

Everytime you see Dr. Jeckle connected to your server you know at some point he is going to make claims that you are cheating. How would you handle the situation?

it's not the change itself thats the dishonest part. it's the "we don't want anyone else to know" that is.

Zzzzzzzzzzzz. As if a server having a different max_speed is something new.

I remember back in 2000 how you had to do +speed on Chuck's server every time you played there, lest you be the slow poke who couldn't escape from anyone.

Even tho it would help having another admin's views.

And if you disagreed with it? Would it end there? Or would you feel fit to react in the suggested way? Then the arguement continues as you implemented what Slot may have suggested? And then others are just as ticked that you did so. It would be a never ending debate. So the topic would never close.. This way.. Its closed.

I guess you just don't understand it, it's like this:

If Ben or his admins do something, it's instantly wrong in Hideo's eyes.

If another admin were to confirm that they would take the same action, Hideo couldn't say jack.

Do I make sense to you guys? I mean it's very simple when dealing with a player who dislikes the admins already and anything we do they instantly try to throw it back in our faces, but then I forget that we're Slot's competition so why should he help us.

well lemme see i don't complain to everything.( u added a rune that actually obstructed vision. did i complain? u kept adding more runes to diffuse the mod. did i complain? theres so much more but there simply annoying rather then moraly wrong.) i simply call ppl on it when they doing sumptin wrong. can i help it if u can't stop doing bad things? like it or not everytime i've brought up a subject in this forum involving rq+(, rqp, mod formerly known as rqadvanced) it's because a screwup has happened. if u screwup perhaps i should go overtime covering up for u? snort i think not.perhaps u should simply advertise if u plan to make massive changes or simply behave :P. might make u look less guilty. then again getting angry when somebody lets another know the server settings changed dosn't look good either.

bens theory is it's ok not to say a word because anybody can use it. so if pk had added a command like cheat-mode and not told anyone it woulda been fine. because anyone could use it and it's just not newsworthy(after all it's not a funny picture). if they don't use it and he does it's not his problem right? then again if somebody tells then it's some big issue and we have to ban such an offender?:P.
