Hi every one,
I had this crazy idea of adding Combination Runes to the exsisting game. Combination Runes are special runes that are Blue in color and combine two rune properties such as Switch and Enviornmental Protection, Resist and Shub Hat etc., etc.

There would only be about five distributed per map and the combos would be random. I think this would add and interesting factor to the dynamics of Rune Quake without changing RQ 1.0. Maybe it development for RQ 2.0?

I'd love to hear some opinions on this. Is this too crazy of an idea?
Can it even be done?

some of those would be funny combinations.. Freeze/Jump, would just have to make sure to Power runes were never put together. :(

The idea of combining runes has been around for a while, but it wasn't until Zop actually put this idea to work that I see it can work. I'll most certainly examine this as an option.

To see Zopmod in action, go to

None of the runes require activation, so the rune-use command is used to switch between primary and secondary runes. This isn't always necessary as many runes work even if they're secondary. Zop has done an excellent job and continues to impress me. Please give it a try!

Rune combinations like this were done years ago BTW. I used to play on a server like that.

But... but... my runes are so precious! There's no way they can't be original!

So... how about telling me about the server that has two-rune capabilities currently?

It's a neat idea, you could claffify runes into categories like armour, health, magic, weapons, etc.. and only have 2 runes from any 2 classes. Or something along those lines.

Yes, there is such a server... mine! (banana.essentrix.net) It doesn't restrict what runes you can pick up in the manner you described, but there is a limiting factor. The runes you pick up are either in your "current" or "reserve" slot, and the rune-use command is now the command to switch the runes in these slots. Certain runes will only work if they are in your current rune slot, while others (called always-on runes) will work in either slot. On top of that, a couple runes will actually take up both of your slots.
