1) Does team player 4 13 and 13 4 colors ... is that fixed? 2) How about having an option restricting the dark green and browns and the other colors that can't be seen in some circumstances. For example, on time on the Palace of Hate near the big water/river/megahealth/suit area, one time Fossil was standing by a wall and I could barely see him looking right at time. He was on the phone or something, I think he was using colors 3/1. He was near invisible even looking directly at him. |

This was using GLQuake with excellent brightness settings, by the way. |

Cross dressing in team play shouldn't be allowed by code, but I'm against restricting colors in FFA. toyo |

I don't see how it could hurt to be an option available. Btw, you specified you didn't like the idea of color restrictions but didn't say why? Is one of your standard colors one of those? |

I wear white/green which is pretty conspicuous. Although I usually want to be audibly stealthy (I don't want others to know where I am in the map), I don't play defensively and therefore do not employ stealth tactics when in the same room as my oppoents. On the contrary, I want people to shoot at me so I'll know where they are. :) Some colors do camouflage players better than others although no color does so completely. But I don't think camouflaging yourself by wearing strategic colors gives you enough of an advantage to warrent limiting choice. Besides, I believe camping and hiding are valid tactics. toyo |

You can prevent colors using QSmack. |

I'm lost as to why you would want to restrict colors in a non team game? With all the GL features you would think that wasn't an issue? I agree no cross dressing for Team Play. Solids only. But FFA no way.. |

I recently got a graphics card and can see everyone just fine. But until 2 days ago, I was WinQuake-ing it and certain colors were virtually invisible to me and I had a rocket in the face down really long Palace of Hate halls before I could even identify there was someone at the end of the hall due to the colors they used. I would like to think everyone can use GLQuake ... they can't. Intel has done a good job issuing an Intel Extreme Graphics controller with every one of their Pentium PCs which runs just about every game that exists EXCEPT GLQuake (as opposed to AMD, which isn't a Pentium and isn't made by Intel). Some people will decide to "WinQuake it" instead of make a redundant purchase while others are PC-illiterate and wouldn't know how to install a circuitboard without a card and then you have others that don't have cash (students, kids, etc.) or control over their computers (college students) to get one. |

There are far too many clients that offer a unique, even unfair, advantage over other clients. If you're going down that road, why not bring up the fact that people use different equiptment, have different connection speeds, and so on. Besides, if everyone was using the same client, cpu, connection, what excuses would be left! Oh, I know, "CAMPER!!" |

True.. I used Winquake and I do admit it is hard to see the players sometimes but you get what you pay for? As for a server side forced issue of color choices though I don't agree. In reality.. I prefer the q95.bat which I can't use on my XP.. Call me old fashioned. It came with the game!! A true Quake straight out of the box!! |
