Here are two new runes that may be included in the next RuneQuake Plus. Let me know if you have any suggestions. I came up with these while playing on Shmack's server. Air-Break Rune When activated instantly stops you in your tracks for a moment. I consider this a skill-based rune as coming to a complete halt can stop you from being blasted away or screw up another player's lead on you. It may have other timing uses, such as stopping yourself from grabbing the wrong color armor or stopping yourself soon as you go through a teleporter (where a trap might be). Throw-Off Rune This rune plays your sounds on entities not too far away from you with the idea of "throwing off" someone listening for keys to your location. It's not sight based, but just distance based. It's coded to randomly switch entities as you go, so sometimes it may play a number of your sounds from a rune and then from an ammo-box. If you aren't near anything it will play your audio on your player. By sounds I mean like jumping, hitting the ground, picking up items, etc. etc. |

Like the "throw off" rune. Would you mind if I suggested another? I noticed on the latest version of Seven Darkplaces SMC mod that he added the ability for creatures such as Vores to hang from Celiings and the like. That got me thinking, I wonder if it would be possible to introduce a rune that would allow players to be able to run along walls, celings, etc as easily as they do along the ground? I suppose the gravitation direction would need to be changed and rotate the player model accordingly. It might add another dimension to the game play and an element of surprise as opponents probably wouldn't be expecting it. It could also reduce the need for a hook Kind regards Monty |
