Hi I've just set up my first quake server with the darkplaces engine. It was suggested to install runequake but I get this error: Code: Host_Error: server Progs attempted to read an out of bounds edict number Quake Error: Host_Error: server Progs attempted to read an out of bounds edict number I'm using the default autoexec.cfg from the example.cfg with only the hostname changed. Startup line: darkplaces-linux-x86_64-dedicated -basedir ~/quake +exec dm.cfg -game runes and dm.cfg: Code: deathmatch 1 timelimit 15 fraglimit 30 sv_public 1 maxplayers 8 nomonsters 1 map dm1 Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Hi, You can't run Rune Quake on a Dark Places server, sorry about that. I recommend using ManQuake, as I modified it to support various RQ features, however, ProQuake and similar servers will work as well. ManQuake https://github.com/slotzero/manquake ProQuake http://quakeone.com/proquake/ I don't have a precompiled binary for manquake so if you're having trouble I can compile one for you. |

Thanks I did try to build ProQuake some time ago but it errored out. I forget the exact error now. I'm using linux it if makes a difference. I will give ManQuake a shot later, but at the moment I have a vote mod + motd working on my server, which just needs a little tweaking. Having fund learning quakec at the moment. |

I finally got around to compiling some windows and linux binaries. You can download them here: ftp://ftp.runequake.com/quake/engines/manquake/latest/ |

Thanks so much for posting the compiled manquake source! After a crazy amount of hours trying to get RuneQuake to run on Ubuntu 14.04 it works great! I am trying to get custom map rotations and not understanding how to do it. I see the "localinfo" command for quakeworld from: http://www.runequake.com/docs/Changes.htm I don't see that this is a command I can run in manquake. Can you tell me how to cycle custom maps? Thanks, Matt |

Custom maps require a compile of the Rune Quake source code. Do you have any experience compiling the Rune Quake source code or are you using the precompiled one? You have to edit the map script (in src), but it's probably easier to use the onlne map script: http://www.runequake.com/maps/script/ Place the file generated into your 'poq' folder and compile with qccx: ftp://ftp.runequake.com/quake/quakec/co ... qccx/1.00/ |
