Slot, hey, just a suggestion for the main shmack server... to turn off fast rune respawn in the temp1 variable. Fast rune respawn does cause runes to repopulate quickly, but there are a couple of side effects. Maybe you know about these and intended for them to be that way as they are matters of preference, but just in case you weren't aware... First, with fast rune respawn, the runes tend to bunch up in one small area rather than scatter throughout the map. Second, the runes tend to repeat quite a bit with fast respawn. Runes spawned at the same time tend to be the same rune, which makes it much more common for more than one player to be holding the same rune, which to me is a bad thing. I think a little more variety adds to the game experience. Neither of these seem to be the case with fast rune respawn off, and even without it, the runes populate quickly enough in my opinion. |

The server was setup for years with slow rune spawn and as with the rune drop delay, I discovered that most people want to get to as many runes as they can as quickly as they can. I agree that sometimes there are multiples of the same rune on the level in a close location, but I do feel that this problem only exists during the very start of the level. I've toyed with the idea of adding a linear cycle of each rune so that every rune is available at some point, but haven't had the desire to put it into action, yet. |
